LitRPGMatch is built specifically for LitRPG and progression fantasy, and matches on narrative feel rather than popularity or co-purchase patterns. You get recommendations for niche subgenres (cultivation, dungeon core, apocalypse system) that mainstream platforms handle poorly.

How do I get started?

The fastest path: go to the Match page, type a book you love, and hit Find My Matches. You'll see 3 similar books instantly — no account required. For personalised daily recommendations, take the Quiz (3 minutes) or Calibrate a few books you've read, then visit your For You feed.

What is the Quiz and do I have to take it?

The Quiz asks 8–10 questions about your reading preferences (tone, pacing, power level, etc.) and builds your initial reader profile. It takes about 3 minutes. You don't have to take it — you can calibrate purely by rating books you've read — but the Quiz gives the engine a strong starting point and leads to better first recommendations.

What does 'Calibrate' mean?

Calibration means telling the engine which books you've already read and how you felt about them (loved it, it was fine, DNF). The engine uses those reactions to refine your reader DNA. The more books you calibrate, the more accurate your For You feed becomes.

Question 6

Why does a book I've already read appear in my recommendations?

Accepted Answer

If you haven't marked a book as 'read' or reacted to it, the engine doesn't know you've read it. Go to the Catalog or the book's detail page and mark it. Your For You feed will then exclude it automatically.

What is the 'Why it matches' signal?

Accepted Answer

Every recommendation shows a short explanation of why the engine thinks you'd enjoy it — for example 'both share weak-to-strong progression and high system pressure'. This is generated from the overlap between your reader DNA and the book's trait profile, not from a generic description.

Mythic is the paid tier designed for heavy readers. It includes 60 match searches per day (vs. 3 on Free), 8 Deep Vibe Analyses per day (vs. 1), access to the Pro reasoning model for deeper match explanations, AI-curated Collections, full Discover Mode, and the complete match breakdown. What is Deep Vibe Analysis?

Deep Vibe Analysis is an AI-powered breakdown of why two books match. It goes beyond the surface signal and explains the emotional arc, pacing rhythm, power curve, and narrative structure similarities in detail. Free users get 1 per day; Mythic users get 8 per day.

How many books are in the catalog?

The catalog currently contains over 2,200 LitRPG, progression fantasy, cultivation, dungeon core, and system apocalypse titles. We add new books regularly. If a book you're looking for is missing, you can request it via the Contact page.

Why does the engine sometimes suggest a book I don't like?

The engine is not perfect. It works best when your calibration history is rich (10+ books). If you get a bad recommendation, mark it as DNF or 'not for me' — that negative signal helps the engine avoid similar books in the future. You can also adjust your preferences on the Match page to shift the balance between axes like power fantasy, tone, and crunch.

Yes. Your reading history, reactions, and reader DNA profile are private by default and are never sold to third parties. We use your data only to generate recommendations within LitRPGMatch. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

What are Guilds?

Accepted Answer

Guilds are reader archetypes (e.g. The Tactician, The Grinder, The Lorekeeper) that represent different reading styles. Your active Guild biases your recommendations toward books that match that archetype's preferred axes. You can switch Guilds at any time from your profile.

Where do I report a bug or request a book?

Accepted Answer

Use the Contact page. For missing books, include the title, author, and a RoyalRoad or Amazon link if you have one.
